Connections Wellness Center offers personalized peptide therapy in Honolulu for a range of health and wellness goals. Treatment options may address metabolism and weight management, physical recovery, body composition, hormone and sexual wellness, cellular function, cognition, and immune or inflammatory concerns.

Every treatment plan begins with a thoughtful evaluation of your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. From there, your provider will identify appropriate options, explain what each therapy is designed to do, and create a plan tailored to your individual needs.

What Are Peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that occur naturally throughout the body. They act as messengers, binding to specific receptors and helping coordinate functions involving appetite, metabolism, hormones, immune activity, tissue response, and more.

Some peptide levels and signaling pathways can change with age, illness, injury, or other factors. Peptide therapy can be a powerful mechanism to recreate these pathways.

Since 1921, over 7,000 peptides have been discovered in the human body. About 3,000 have been sequenced and made available for therapeutic purposes. Although peptides have been used successfully for over fifty years, only a small number have received FDA approval.

Because naturally occurring peptides cannot be patented in their native form, there has historically been less commercial incentive to invest the hundreds of millions of dollars required to complete the large clinical trials needed for FDA approval.

That being said, there are hundreds of thousands of clinical trials and subjective patient reports of positive results with virtually no adverse outcomes over several decades, which is why the demand continues to push for legalization and support for these therapies.

It is important to recognize that peptide therapies are not all the same. Each peptide should be evaluated on its own scientific evidence, manufacturing quality, purity, dosing and safety profile.

At Connections Wellness Center, we do not assume a therapy is beneficial simply because it is natural, nor do we dismiss it simply because it has not yet received FDA approval. We carefully review the available evidence, discuss known and potential risks and benefits, and work with each patient to make informed, individualized decisions with the goal of restoring physiologic balance and optimizing health.
